Hall Of Fame QB Tarkenton Slams Favre Signing As ‘Circus’
While everyone within the organization of the NFLs Minnesota Vikings is putting on a grin and bear it face and trying to maintain the party line that there's much rejoicing over Brett Favre being their QB this season, one former Viking great isn't playing that game. On the Sirius Satellite Radio NFL program The Opening Drive Fran Tarkenton pulled no punches with his criticism of The Gunslinger, describing the whole scene surrounding his signing by the Vikings as a circus.
Dolphins Outlast Jaguars In Soggy NFL Preseason Affair
In a NFL preseason game characterized by rainy weather, sloppy field conditions and a quick exit for both teams starters, the Miami Dolphins outlasted their in-state rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars by a 12-9 score. NFL Flashback: Baltimore Shocks New England To Advance
The New England Patriots looked nothing like a team that had gone undefeated at home all season, let alone one of the dominant teams of the past few years. The Baltimore Ravens took advantage of a weak New England rushing defense and some untimely mistakes by QB Tom Brady to lead 14-0 just five minutes. They would end the first quarter up 24-0 and would never be seriously threatened as they coasted to a 33-14 victory in Sunday's NFL Wildcard game.
Palmer Returns In Bengals NFL Preseason Loss To Saints
Despite losing to the New Orleans Saints in their NFL preseason opener 17-7, the Cincinnati Bengals had a lot to be happy about. Most significantly, they were elated over the return of QB Carson Palmer after he'd missed most of the last NFL season with an elbow injury. Palmer's play--133 yards on 7 of 11 passing--gave them even more to be happy about despite being on the wrong end of the final score. Of course Cincinnati has had very low standards for success lately, and it was more of a 'silver lining in a dark cloud' situation than anything else.
