PostHeaderIcon Bing and LeapFish Slugging it Out for Social Search Aggregation Lead

Well, the hoopla over Bing is over. The wonders of Microsoft’s decision engine are now known to the world via a media blitz powerful enough to shame a Superbowl advertising rep.

But to many of us who have been watching the development of upstart social search aggregation engine LeapFish, the wonders of Bing were more yawn inspiring than awe inspiring.

LeapFish brought social search aggregation to a whole new level. Try them out at LeapFish.com. Do a quick search and you’ll notice the tightly parsed RSS blocks with cool Ajaxified content flipping features. These let you flip through content layers without leaving the search results page. Look familiar?

Scroll down to the video section. How about those dynamic loading mouseover video previews? Just like Bing eh?

Don’t miss the cool ‘Share’ feature that lets you quickly and easily repost the scraped content back to your favorite social bookmarking service.

These and many other on page effects are what make Bing and LeapFish so unique. But ask the folks at LeapFish and they’ll tell you they were first with all of these developments.

I spoke with a LeapFish rep yesterday and pointed some of these similarities out to her. She was adamant that LF was first to market with these interface features. She proudly explained how they have been in serious dev since rebranding Leapfish from it’s earlier iteration as a domain appraisal service.

Okay fair enough, but how can you compete with the mashup style of the Bing metasearch (also known as a decision engine)?

We’re wathing and waiting…

Meanwhile the search wars continue. As always we urge our clients to stick to networking and content power and let the aggregation services pull us into the web. No matter who wins the fight for eyeballs, we win the war.

PostHeaderIcon Cost per View and Pay per View Come Back in a Big Way

Just when you thought impression based advertising was dead – or at head hostage by the huge CPM networks, we ran across a powerful new player called the, DirectCPV PPV Contextual Advertising Network.

It’s no secret that most of a publishers effort goes into finding effect ways to monetize pageviews, and likewise the hardest part of an advertising buyers job is effective placement of targeted brand and sales messages. That is why the DirectCPV network caught my eye.

First for advertisers, the value is clear. With a low $100 to open a test account you can laser target consumers at the exact touchpoints you need with prices from $0.01 for URL, Keyword and Category targeting. Cost per View lets you drop full page impressions in front of surfers based on target message, keyword matching, and URL matching.  The advantage of placing the ad right at the search and surf vector provides an amazing ROI on your ad dollar.

For brand builders, DirectCPV provides RoN campaigns starting at $0.004 per view. That is a mind boggling discount for full page ads to build brand awareness. And since the ad network uses a bidding system you also benefit from close ROI management and competitive tactics familiar to those with bid-based ad systems.

For a more complete overview of this advertising platform check out the DirectCPV Online Advertising Platform Video.

And finally, let’s talk about the publisher side of this equation. Per per View / Cost per View is making a big comeback in the search world. Publishers are getting tired of shaved referrals and low conversion rates from CPA networks. Other nagging problems with CPA — like branded creatives and payout hold-back times are forcing more web developers to look for ways to monetize human impressions again — like the good old days. Publishers can get started with a toll-free phone call.

And then something for everyone: The DirectCPV Advertiser Referral Contest offers a revenue share for referring new advertisers to the system. So there is no excuse to check out the new wave of Cost per View / Pay per View.

Impressions are coming back… in a big way!

PostHeaderIcon How Free Online Classifieds Can Work for You

Amazing how the web has grown to be so much more than just a communication tool. In fact one real irony is that one of the earliest uses of the web (going way back to even the BB days) was classified ads. Funny that even now free online classifieds can add all kinds of exposure to your service or website.

Today, more and more folks face economic challenges when it comes to their businesses. Owners and managers have to focus closely to protect their small businesses and save as much money as they can. Advertising is one of the lines that are more often than not ignored when a budget is created. Generally, smaller companies cannot afford to spend large sums of money on limited advertising that will only reach a small number of consumers. If you have such a business, you have two alternatives: to risk with an ad placed in the Sunday paper or use the free advertising like classified ads for guerrilla style online advertising.

The free classified ads are available on numerous sites on the internet and they are a wonderful opportunity for any business. They are so powerful as a marketing tool we own one we have operated since 1997 called the 1ads online advertiser. With them, you can reach all people who have access to the Internet and not only people in the town you live.

Many people are not using the online advertising opportunity because they think they don’t need such a large exposure for their business. This is completely wrong, since the economic times we are facing definitely need every possible customer and advertising makes the difference when speaking about extending a business or launching a new one. The online advertising is currently a thing that most of the businesses cannot afford to ignore.

There is more about the free classifieds than a quick and short post on the Internet. More often than not there is a space limit for an ad and you can only type a limited number of characters when you post the ad. This is where choosing the proper keyword becomes necessary.

Selecting the proper keywords for the free classified ads must be done carefully. You need to grab people’s attention and make them visit the website of your business and you only have 100-200 characters to do that. By selecting the keywords that will generate traffic for your ad, you will shortly increase the number of visitors for your website or blog. The keywords need to be precise and aim to a specific point. Check out the keywords the competition is using and improve them for your own business.

There are countless websites where you can post your ad and you should not ignore the small sites that seem not to be related to the main activity of your business. Placing free classifieds on websites that are not related to your business, you will be opened for new audiences that are not used with your products. This way, the products or services that you are selling will seem like fresh opportunities to people who see your ad there. Try to do online advertising on websites that present things for people with the same interests as your main audience. For example, you can place an ad on a women’s clothing website if your principal business is perfumes.

As you can easily see, the free classifieds can work for you and for your business even if it might seem like an improbable way of getting new customers for your products or services.

PostHeaderIcon Review: Article Alley for Article Marketing

Since article marketing is a very effective way to promote your website, we were very escited to review Article Alley, one the the top Article Marketing sites on the web.

The website is super clean and easy to navigate, plus the categories are logical and fairly wide. I liked the overall usability of the site. The best feature is the article detail pages. Article Alley make it easy to not only subscribe to article feeds but to republish articles.

From the wrtier point of view they are also very functional. The author tools are robust and I have experienced good turn around times when submitting.

PostHeaderIcon There is no place like home and home is Detroit!

Being someone who was born and raised in Detroit, I believe I can speak with authority on the city. I am currently retired military and can live anywhere I decide to live. There is something about living in the “D”.

The museums in Detroit are great. They provide a wide range of diversity that few cities can achieve. You see museums from the Museum of Contemporary Art to the Motown Historical Museum. You can go to the Charles H Wright Museum and the walk to the Detroit Science Center. There are 7 different museums near the downtown area.

Then if you want to look for a different type of entertainment, there are plenty of spectator sports. If professional sports are your thing, we have something all year around. The Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers will keep you hopping. Then there are the universities of Michigan State and University of Michigan. Not to mention all the local high school, junior high and recreational leagues that provide year around entertainment.

Something that only true Detroit natives will know is the Detroit style Coney Island dog.  A Coney Dog that has Detroit style chili, fresh chopped onions and yellow mustard. There is nothing like it. Restaurants Lafayette Coney Island and All American Coney Island make a dog that just can’t be beat.

Then there are the festivals. Detroit has festivals at the Heart Plaza. Ethnic festivals are part of who we are. There are the music festivals like the Motor City Blues Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival to name a couple. The Harvest Beer Festival is another that is a blast..

Detroit has gone through some bad times. Many people have decided to leave Detroit for “greener” pastures. This is their loss and your gain. Detroit is a great place to work and live. The prices for real estate have never been cheaper. I can tell you I live here by choice and would never live anywhere else.
